Matteo Setti (registered name Matteo Mariafrancesco Setti) was born on 17 August 1972 in Reggio Emilia, he grew up listening to his father's records (singer and musician in the '60s) and those of Guccini and De André.
At a concert by Radiogaga in Bologna, Matteo was seen and approached by Matteo Righi, one of Luciano Pavarotti's collaborators who encouraged him to audition for the musical Rent.
Matteo did the audition and was accepted and this led to a great change in his life and in his career, as from that day he has dedicated himself only to music, it is his fuel for the soul and an insuppressible urge.
Rent, is a musical that tells a story based on Puccini's 'La Bohème' set to rock music. It has been on Broadway for many years and in Italy it was produced by Luciano Pavarotti and Nicoletta Mantovani.
Matteo initially played the joint main character, Paul; then his talent led him to take on the role of the main character, Roger.
The musical was staged from 2000 to 2001, and it was Matteo's first important experience, allowing him to pass from being an amateur to being a professional through a time of artistic growth.
At the same time as the extensive commitment to Rent Matteo accepted to record - for the AbeatC record company - some 'dance-music' songs aimed at the Japanese market, under the pseudonym Matt Land.
This was an important learning experience, he worked in a recording studio for the first time. The Japanese results were considerable: 300.000 copies sold and two live performances in Tokyo in 2000, with other artists of international level such as Dead or Alive.
Matt land's first song with Go Go's Music will be released at the end of the year, sung with the great Lolita: 'YOU'RE MY BAD BOY RACER'.
